Toby enjoys the sea breeze
Along the Great Ocean Road
Johanna Seaside Cottages- Just off the Great Ocean Road this is a unique group of cottages which enjoy views over the river flats, undulating hills and the ocean.
All cottages are dog friendly and there is 260 hectares for walks. Most cottages are fully fenced and a kennel can be supplied on request.
Dogs can walk on the beach provided they are kept on a lead.
Last Christmas, Toby and I had the pleasure of driving along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria for the first time.. It was simply breathtaking-the spectacular coastline, golden beaches and an abundance of beautiful flora and fauna. Toby and I were in holiday adventure heaven and the best thing of all was the abundance of dog friendly accommodation- gorgeous cottages and houses, many with amazing views.
Its not just accommodation that is dog friendly- we discovered many forest walks such as the Otway Forest park where dogs were permitted, provided they are on leash )as well as dog friendly beaches.
The road is only a few hundred kilometers long but I recommend spending at least a couple of nights to enjoy the area and give your pooch lots of pit stops and play as well. The area has many attractions including the Port Campbell National Park, the world famous ’12 Apostles’- eroded sandstone outcrops, stunning beaches, cheeseries and restaurants ( my favourite was Chris’s Apollo Bay- although I was disappointed that the accommodation there does not take dogs!)
