Farewell Toby the Wonderdog
It is with great sadness I share the news that my beloved Toby has passed away peacefully at home. For 14 years we were a team and our relationship was filled with unconditional love, trust and friendship. We had a special bond and right to the end he never failed to make me smile with his mischievous antics and sense of fun.
It just seems like yesterday that I chose my adorable bundle of fluff from his litter with my TV crew in tow, and you all shared his remarkable journey on national TV. Toby was a born performer, always hamming it up for the cameras and never missing a cue. He appeared regularly on television, magazine covers, TV commercials and even radio where he would bark his answers. Our work gave us the opportunity to travel around the country together and he was treated like a real celebrity. As testament to his popularity, his book Wonderdog became a national bestseller.
Another amazing quality Toby possessed was his ability to make others feel good. From children in hospitals to the elderly in nursing homes, or simply playing in the park his beautiful temperament always shone through.
While I am deeply distressed by his passing, it is important to remember he lived an incredible, full life and he leaves so many wonderful memories. We must celebrate not only Toby’s extraordinary journey and his relationship with me, but all our furry-friends and the way they enrich our lives and make the world a better place.
Toby - you were my best friend and you will forever be in my heart.
