Wildlife Information and Rescue Service ( WIRES)

WIRES is the largest wildlife rescue organisation in Australia. When a wallaby or echidna is hit by a car, a possum is attacked by a cat or a lizard gets its head stuck in a drink can - WIRES is there to help. It’s mission is simple: to rescue, rehabilitate and release sick, injured or orphaned native animals

I have been a Patron of WIRES for many years. They do a wonderful job saving those beautiful animals that aren’t usually pets, but are so much a part of this wonderful country in which we’re lucky enough to live. A non-profit, non-political charity with branches operating across NSW, WIRES receives over 100,000 phone calls and rescues over 56,000 native animals (from injured bluetongues to orphaned wombats) every year.

There are many ways you can help WIRES – from becoming a volunteer rescuer or carer, a regular financial supporter or just by spreading the word that they’re the people you call in a native animal emergency. Visit the web site and see for yourself.

The Retreat, Portsea VIC

My dog's loved their weekend adventure at The Retreat, Portsea. The back garden was fully secure and large enough to play frisbee and other ball games. There are great walks all around the area and nearby Shelley beach is an off leash dog beach.
